Today's teens are growing up amid changing families, the constant pull of social media and the uncertainty AI is creating. College is no longer the finish line. They need to be ready for careers that haven't been invented yet, and for lives no template can map.
The editing rarely starts at work.
Most adults were only ever asked to grow in one direction: deliver what the organization expects and be rewarded for it. To belong, many settled into a single, standardized path, and over the years it quietly decided how they think, what they value and who they are. But it rarely starts at work. It starts around fifteen: at home, in school, with a coach or an application, in the decision to fit in to be accepted.
Why the cost is rising.
Without an identity of their own, people struggle to find the conviction to do what's right, or to bring what's distinct about them into the room. And now AI increasingly defines the people who haven't defined themselves first. It leaves adults reinventing themselves, working to reclaim what they gave away, and often unready to guide teenagers who are trying to claim who they are before they lose it.
The edit is already underway.
- 54% of teens have used AI chatbots for schoolwork; about 3 in 10 use one daily; 12% have turned to one for emotional support or advice. (Pew Research Center, 2025–26)
- 88% feel pressure to follow a specific educational or career path. (Citizens & Junior Achievement USA, 2025)
- 48% say social media has a mostly negative effect on people their age, up from 32% in 2022. (Pew Research Center, 2025)
- About half of teens are very comfortable talking with a parent about their mental health, while 80% of parents say they're comfortable having that conversation. (Pew Research Center, 2025)
- 56% of Gen Z middle and high schoolers are thriving. Among Gen Z young adults, 39% are. (Gallup & Walton Family Foundation, 2025)
Before anyone else decides.
Today's teenagers will be tomorrow's workforce and leaders. Teens UnEdited exists so they can define themselves before any organization, room or algorithm does it for them, and grow into adults with the conviction to bring what is most distinct about them to the moments that matter.
